We are thrilled to share that ecodrive logistics, in collaboration with Amazon, had the incredible opportunity to contribute to a local food bank initiative in Hull.
š¤ Our joint efforts resulted in the delivery of a substantial food donation, providing a whopping 533 balanced meals for individuals in need. š„¦š
Hull Foodbank operates across four locations - North, East, Central, and West, serving the community through a referral system facilitated by agencies like Citizens Advice, DAP, Mind, and many others. Clients receive vouchers for food, and instructions on the nearest food bank, ensuring accessibility for those facing challenges. The food parcels, including canned goods, fruits, vegetables, and bread, aim to provide a balanced diet to recipients.
š The impact of our collective efforts is evident in the growing demand for assistance. In the past year, the Hull Foodbank team distributed an impressive 9,000 food parcels, demonstrating the increasing need for community support. In 2022, they distributed 6,000 parcels, and in 2021, the figure was 5,000 - a clear indication of the rising demand year on year.
š Beyond food distribution, the Hull Food Bank project also encompasses the Financial Inclusion Project. This initiative, supported by grants, allows a Citizens Advice worker to be seconded to their food banks. Their role involves providing advice on benefits, PIPs, debt, and other specialised areas, empowering individuals to become less reliant on external assistance.
š¤² The success of the Financial Inclusion Project is remarkable, but the demand for their services has grown. The Hull Foodbank team is now actively seeking funds to bring a second person on board, acknowledging the heavy workload and the need to expand their impact further.
